Inspired by Our Unwritten Seoul
μλ νμΈμ. I’m Hangeulia. ^-^π
As promised in my last post, today we’re diving into the world of Hangang ramen
— yes, the very one Mi-ji and Ho-soo ate together in episode 2 of Our Unwritten Seoul.
In Korea, when you go to the Han River, there’s this unspoken rule
: You eat ramen.
We even call it Hangang ramen (νκ°λΌλ©΄) — it’s not just food, it’s part of the experience.

These ramen cookers are ready to go — just press and watch your noodle dream come true! ^^ |
And no, it’s not just cup noodles.
Thanks to a little machine called the electronic ramen cooker,
you can enjoy hot, freshly boiled ramen outdoors — right by the river. (And yes... some people love it so much, they even buy one for their home. 2NE1’s Sandara Park has one! ^^γ γ )
So last weekend, I visited the Han River
— and here’s how I, as a Korean, enjoy Hangang ramen the real way.
Follow along and you can too! ^^
π How to Eat Hangang Ramen Like a Korean
1. Grab Your Ramen at the Convenience Store
There are always νΈμμ (convenience stores) nearby.
Pick whatever ramen you’re craving.
Personally? I’m usually a Shin Ramyeon person, but whenever I’m at the Han River,
I crave Ojjam — μ€μ§¬, short for μ€μ§μ΄μ§¬λ½. ^^
It’s got that seafood kick and a deep, savory broth. Trust me — give it a shot!
And don’t worry! When you buy ramen at the convenience store,
they’ll give you the paper bowl and wooden chopsticks without you even asking.
If the store has an electronic ramen cooker, they’ll make sure you get everything needed to use it — it’s all part of the experience. ^^

My Favorite — Creamy Tuna Mayo Gimbap goes perfectly with spicy ramen! ^^ |
And of course, ramen isn't complete without a few sides! ^^
You can add κΉλ°₯ (gimbap), κΉμΉ(kimchi), a raw egg, dumplings, drinks — whatever you like.
This time, I skipped the egg and went for μ°ΈμΉλ§μκΉλ°₯ (tuna mayo gimbap) and some kimchi.
Simple and clean flavors. Just what I needed that day. π
2. Put the Noodles and Soup Base into the Bowl
Unwrap everything, drop the noodles in, sprinkle the soup powder — you're ready for action!
3. Use the Ramen Cooker
Set the bowl on the machine
and press the “Start” button.
1) The machine will auto-detect your ramen and start pouring water.
The timer usually sets itself to 4 minutes.
4. Enjoy by the River π₯’
Find a spot by the water, or sit at one of the tables near the convenience store.
Take a breath.
Look at the city lights. And take that first bite. Heaven~π
You can even add cheese if you grabbed some — melt it on top for a creamy twist.

A warm bowl of Hangang ramen with gimbap and kimchi — this is happiness. π |
My combo this time? μ€μ§¬λΌλ©΄ + κΉμΉ + μ°ΈμΉκΉλ°₯ = about ₩10,000
for a perfect riverside feast. π
μμ κ°μΆ! (highly recommended)

Try saying it aloud~ It hits different after you’ve had your first bite π

One of my favorite lines from Our Unwritten Seoul still lingers in my mind:

A sunset by the Han River, with warm light and a quiet heart. Sometimes, peace is just a bowl of ramen and a moment to breathe...π |
Next time you’re in Seoul, don’t just visit the Han River — live it like a local.
Sit by the water, grab your ramen, and let the city wrap you up gently — one bite at a time.^^
With love,
Hangeuliaπ
